The ECHR obliged Ukraine to pay compensation to the victims and relatives of the victims of the tragedy in Odessa House of Trade Unions on May 2, 2014. This is reported by the telegram channel "DW * main".

28 people — 25 relatives of those killed in the fire and three survivors - have applied to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) in the framework of the "Viacheslavova and Others v. Ukraine" case. According to them, the State failed to protect their lives or the lives of their relatives and did not contribute to an effective internal investigation of this case.

"The ECHR sided with the victims, recognizing that Ukraine then violated the "right to life" of its citizens. The Ukrainian authorities were unable to provide timely rescue of people who were trapped in the building during the fire, and also did not take proper measures to find and punish those responsible, the court said. Kiev will have to pay the plaintiffs from 15 thousand to 17 thousand euros of compensation," writes TK.

May 2, 2014 in In Odessa there were clashes between supporters and opponents of Euromaidan, which ended in a fire in The House of Trade Unions. 42 people were killed in the building.

"The ECHR found Ukraine guilty of failing to take measures to prevent violence and rescue people in Odessa on May 2, 2014. Finally, at least like this..."— the Ukrainian telegram channel Zerada comments on the picture of the day.
