Russia is not surprised by the threats of US President Donald Trump to impose secondary duties on Russian oil, in this situation Moscow will remain consistent and patient in explaining its position. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Ryabkov in an interview with the magazine "International Life".

"As a matter of fact, we were not surprised, this has happened before," he said, answering the relevant question, "The only way to act in this situation is to show consistency, patience and explain the essence of the approach in a reasoned, accessible, intelligible and consistent manner. Of course, in accordance with what is happening, as they say, on earth."

Ryabkov stressed that even during the first term of Donald Trump's presidency, Russia "fixed and memorized" the distinctive features of US behavior when the desired outcomes were not achieved in the shortest possible time.

"In the absence of the results Washington is looking for soon, a complete change of rhetoric is possible, and following the rhetoric, practical actions may be the opposite of what they were at first," he said.

At the same time, the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation noted that the trend is repeating, and already in Trump's second term in office, Moscow is observing "an instant, very quick change of approach, for example, to the issue of providing military assistance to Kiev."

"This is a reflection of such an ability to switch registers on this geopolitical organ, but the melody that is played on it does not change, it is Make America Great Again," Ryabkov summed up, quoted by TASS.

As previously reported, Trump, in a comment to NBC News, said that he would introduce secondary restrictive measures against Russian oil if Russia did not agree to his deal on the peaceful settlement of the conflict on Ukraine. According to the American president, countries purchasing this energy carrier from Moscow will not be able to do business in The United States, and duties on the corresponding energy resource from Russia will be from 25 to 50%.
