Ukrainian MP detained in Moscow allowed to meet with Ukrainian сonsul

Ukrainian MP Oleksiy Honcharenko, who was detained in Moscow during the Sunday rally in memory of killed Russian politician Boris Nemtsov, has been allowed to meet with Consul of Ukraine to Russia Gennady Breskalenko, the MP’s lawyer Mark Feygin said on Twitter on Monday.

“Ukraine’s Consul Breskalenko has been allowed to see Honcharenko in the Kitay-Gorod police department,” Feygin said.

Earlier, the Russian Investigation Committee reported that detained Oleksiy Honcharenko, who represents Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko’s Bloc, had been interrogated. More specifically, he was asked about the crimes against a Russian citizen during the last year’s tragic events in Odessa.

As many as 48 anti-Maidan supporters were killed and 250 injured in a fire in the Trade Unions House in Odessa on May 2 2014.

Honcharenko is the son of the former mayor of Odessa, Oleksiy Kostusev. The Committee believes him to be one of the organizers of the Odessa disorders.
