Visit of the Russian delegation to Turkey that was supposed to be headed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is cancelled, spokesperson of the Russian foreign ministry Maria Zakharova has announced in her Facebook account.
The delegation of the Russian foreign ministry was planned to visit Istanbul on November 25. The delegation was to take part in the fifth meeting of the Russian-Turkish strategic planning joint group.
As EADaily reported earlier, the Turkish Air Forces shot down a Russian Su 24 plane near the Syrian-Turkish border. Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed that the Su 24 was posing no threat to Turkey, as it was on mission against the ISIL (terror organization banned in Russia). According to Putin, Turkey by “stabbing in Russia’s back”, turned into accomplice of the terrorists. He promised that the attack would have “serious consequences” for the Russian-Turkish relations.
