A ship larger than the sunk missile cruiser Moskva, the former flagship of the Black Sea Fleet, is being built at the Kerch shipyard. This is reported by Newsweek.

Satellite images showing the construction of one of the two Ivan Rogov-class amphibious assault ships of the 23900 project were published by Defense Express. Judging by the photo, the length of the vessel will be about 220 meters, and the width — 40 meters. Defense Express compared the new images with those published in July 2024 by OSINT analyst M.T. Anderson on the social network X.

"At that moment, the hull of the ship was just beginning to take shape, which indicates significant progress by the Russians in less than a year," Defense Express emphasized, quoted by Strana.

According to Defense Express, the Ivan Rogov-class amphibious assault ship surpasses the Moscow cruiser not only in size. The ship with a displacement of about 30 thousand tons will be able to accommodate up to 900 Marines, as well as transport 75 pieces of military equipment, three small landing craft and 15 helicopters, including Ka-29 and Ka-52K models. For comparison: the length of the "Moscow" was 186 meters, and the displacement was 11,490 tons.

The first sea trials have been postponed until 2027, Defense Express notes.
