During this heating season, Turkey burned record volumes of gas. At the same time, Gazprom's supplies rose to the pre-Turkish Stream levels. For the second year in a row, the company has been increasing fuel supplies to the country in winter.

"Gas consumption in Turkey sets new records. According to calculations based on data from the Turkish EPIAŞ exchange, consumption exceeded 21 billion cubic meters in January-March. m is historically the highest indicator of the first quarter for the Turkish gas market," Gazprom reports.

Taking into account the data of the Turkish regulator EPDK, the total gas consumption in the country during the heating season, from November to March, amounted to almost 33 billion cubic meters. The demand for gas in the country has grown by more than 20% or 5.5 billion cubic meters.

The winter in Turkey was colder, but the acceleration of gas consumption was given by hydrogenation, which has almost halved in Turkey. This forced Turkish companies to increase purchases of any gas for electricity production.

And, obviously, Gazprom has increased supplies again. At least, according to the EPDK, exports to Turkey in November-January amounted to 8.54 billion cubic meters — 21% more than the previous season.

At the same time, January deliveries of 2.78 billion cubic meters were the third largest in all years this month. Gazprom supplied a little more, 2.8 billion cubic meters, to Turkey only in the record 2017-2018 years.

The Russian company is the only one that can quickly and significantly increase gas supplies. So, in January, it was useful to the Balkans when a gas pipeline failed in the Caspian Sea and Azerbaijani gas exports dropped sharply. In February, the European line of the Turkish Stream reached a historical record. Additional volumes went to Bulgaria, Romania and, obviously, Moldova.
