Sochi law enforcement officers detained a man suspected of embezzling 168 million rubles that were in safe deposit boxes. The reason for the start of the criminal case, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, was the appeal to the police of 18 citizens who lost large sums in rubles and in foreign currency.
All the thefts took place in one of the Sochi depository centers.
According to investigators, the acting director of the organization itself may be guilty of the crime. The man was detained at his workplace, after which he was brought to a forest area, where he organized a cache of stolen money.
Investigative actions have been launched within the framework of part 4 of Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (theft on an especially large scale).
