Russian President Vladimir Putin explained why Soviet Foreign Minister Andrei Gromyko was called "Mr. No" in the West.
The Russian leader shared his memories on this topic during a press conference following talks with Iranian President Masoud Peseshkian.
"Once upon a time in In the Soviet Union, our Foreign Minister Gromyko was called "Mr. No." Why not? Because even then it was very difficult to coordinate all issues, and even in the conditions of the cold war," the head of state said.
He also stressed that the United Nations was created at one time to find compromises, rejecting unilateral decisions.
According to Putin, even in modern conditions, the balance of power can be maintained only by relying on the UN Charter. At the same time, he nevertheless admitted that this is a "complex tool."
