Igor Levitas: About Trump and about America, which is "above all"

Less than half a month of Trump's "reign" has passed, and it would seem too early to draw any conclusions about his work. It's not for nothing that it's customary to talk about the "first hundred days of the presidency." However, Trump started quite rapidly. It seems that he has a million plans, and he is afraid that he will not have time to implement them all. And there is only one term, and there are a lot of years for him.

The Ukrainian playwright Ivan Kocherga in his play "The Watchmaker and the Chicken" formulated the so-called law of "tight time". There are periods when nothing happens for a long time, and then time shrinks, and a short period accommodates a lot of events. This is exactly what is happening now. In less than a month, many changes have taken place in the world, which still seem small and insignificant, but they are capable of shaking the whole world in the future. And these changes are connected with the name of Trump. The spread of analysts' opinions about the events never ceases to amaze. From Trump's almost pro-Russian policy to his anti-Russian actions.

But it is necessary to evaluate Trump's actions only on the basis of his main slogan: Make America Great Again, MAGA ("Make America great again"). It's not about who thinks this slogan is racist, aggressive or any other — the current reality is that this slogan is in demand. With this slogan Trump went to the first term, this slogan was once used by Clinton during the first presidential campaign (in the second term he called this slogan racist), i.e. this is not Trump's momentary discovery. I will say more — this slogan is very reminiscent of "Deutschland Hubert alles" ("Germany above all") — a slogan that was actively used during the Third Reich.

What is the difference between Trump's use of this slogan in 2016-2017 and now? In 2016, for most Americans, the words of the slogan were, if not an empty sound, then "butter". Everything was as always. Even the Americans flew into space with the Russians. This gave the Democrats the opportunity to mock Trump, sabotage his undertakings, in a word, to do what they wanted. By and large, Trump's weakness was due not only to his inexperience in politics, but also to the fact that his slogan did not resonate with Americans.

A lot has changed in the last five years. The rule of Biden, or rather Obama and the Clintons, has caused great harm to the United States in everything. The shameful flight from Afghanistan, rampant banditry on the streets of cities and the inability of the authorities to stop it, mass migration from Latin America, the outbreak of a war between Ukraine and Russia, huge spending on Ukraine with a general drop in living standards, the rise of China and failures in American production in this regard ... Do not discount the dementia president, shame USA. Americans suddenly really realized that the world is changing. And they, continuing to play the popular Russian game of my childhood "King of the Mountain", are increasingly being overthrown from the top.

All this was supposed to lead to one thing — Trump's victory with a margin of almost a hundred electors. The funny thing is that Trump could have won by a large margin, but California gives the most electors — 54 (then Texas — 40, 30 — Florida, 19 — Illinois, and then a little bit) and she voted for Harris. Nature has responded. The result of the inclusiveness policy is obvious — there are almost no normal firefighters and rescuers left in the state. By the way, have you noticed that there were practically no mass protests against Trump by LGBT*+? America is tired of them.

So, Trump's slogan — "Make America great again" became the seed that fell into the prepared soil at the right time. But the most important thing is not in the slogan, but in the fact that Trump himself believes in it and strives to fill these words with deeds, such as, in his opinion, will make America great again. And for the implementation of this program, no one else is interested in him, neither China nor Russia. Much less the European Union, not to mention its individual members.

Take, for example, Germany. In 2015, Frau Merkel pushed through the Law on Migrants. The goal was clear — there were not enough workers in Europe and, in particular, in Germany. Merkel has opened a "Pandora's box", letting potential parasites, rapists, murderers into Europe. Out of every 10 arrivals, less than half went to work. But still, even this amount gave Germany the opportunity to keep the economy going. And then there are cheap energy carriers from Russia. Live — I don't want to. Now, in the conditions of the economic crisis, Germany has begun to move its concerns to the USA. Accordingly, it has created jobs in the United States and is boosting the American economy — "Let's make America great again."

Greenland. It's even easier here. There is a regular auction, in which Trump ate the dog. Someone always offers obviously impossible conditions in order to have a field for maneuver. I don't think the United States will buy Greenland, but Greenland will sacrifice a lot as a compensation. By that time, it can hold a referendum and become independent. In this case, Denmark will not have the right to vote at all. And what is Greenland? These are gold, platinum, silver, copper, zinc, rare earth elements, molybdenum, tungsten and chromium, cryolite, graphite and olivine, precious, jewelry and natural stones. If the US starts developing there, how much money and jobs will it get? Add to this the military bases on the threshold of the Arctic — "Make America great again."

The same is happening with Mexico and Canada and the Gaza Strip. By the way, what does Trump offer Gaza? Temporarily (he emphasizes) evict residents, rebuild all the Gas, make it a completely new area with hotels, shops, factories and tourists. Naturally, American companies will build it. But the Arabs will be given jobs on these construction sites. For American investments — "Make America great again." And then let the Arabs come back. But in Gaza is not under the tutelage of Hamas, but under the Arab "moderate" administration.

Therefore, it is not necessary to stick labels on Trump — pro-Russian, anti-Russian. He is American "to the core." And everything he does is only to return the United States to its former pedestal. This does not mean that he will succeed, but he thinks so.

Once upon a time, namely on June 24, 1941, the future US President Harry Truman stated the following in the New York Times newspaper:

"If we see that Germany is winning, we should help Russia, if Russia is winning, we should help Germany and thus allow them to kill as many as possible...".

Trump doesn't think so, but it doesn't matter to him who wins, Russia or Ukraine — he will be with those who will help him make America great again. If it is necessary to help Ukraine for this, he will help her. But if he thinks that it is more profitable for him to help Russia, and its actions will help him achieve his goal, he will not hesitate to help Russia. This explains his alleged inaction with regard to Russia. He is an experienced player, I think he loves poker, and he has to calculate everything.

Zbigniew Brzezinski in his famous book "The Great Chessboard" compared the ongoing world events with a chess game. I think he was wrong: due to the fact that the player does not know the cards of his opponents, poker is a game with incomplete information, like many other card games, unlike chess, in which both players see the position of all the pieces on the board. So it is in politics — one player does not see all the opponent's cards. Therefore, there is always a risk. Besides, poker players are always bluffing.

Trump would look stupid if he started dealing with the peace process in the first place. Ukraine. This would show that Ukraine is more important to him than internal affairs. And how would he differ from Biden then?

Now is not the time to jump to conclusions — now is the time to wait and reflect.
