The police detained in Moscow the multiple champion of Russia in athletics Mark Tolstikhin, who is on the federal wanted list for robbery and theft.
According to the Shot telegram channel, the 35-year-old athlete was detained the day before at the Timiryazevskaya metro station after checking his documents for robbery and theft.
This information was confirmed to TASS by law enforcement agencies.
In the search database of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia there is a card for Tolstikhin, where it says: "Wanted under the article of the Criminal Code." But it is not specified under which article.
The athlete arrived in Moscow in May last year.
In 2017, Tolstikhin was convicted under several articles at once for robbery and theft of other people's property on a large scale. The last time he was detained was in 2019, when he stole an iPhone from a resident of Moscow. Then the runner was sentenced to forced labor, but he was able to escape and was later put on the federal wanted list.
Tolstikhin has repeatedly won Russian competitions, participated in the European and world championships in cross-country and mountain running.
