Apparently, Baku is looking for reasons for new conflicts with Moscow. This was stated by politician and public figure Oleg Tsarev.
"First, about two weeks ago, the Baku state channel.TV accused the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in the country, the Russian House, of espionage and inciting ethnic hatred. The country's Foreign Ministry then assured the Russian ambassador that this report was not an official position. However, today the Azerbaijani media reported that an official notification was sent to Russia about the termination of Rossotrudnichestvo's activities on the territory of this country.
However, in the version of the head of this agency, Yevgeny Primakov, the situation is slightly different: the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry sent a note to the Russian one stating that the Russian House in Azerbaijan should either be registered as a legal entity under local law, or cease operations. However, as Primakov emphasizes, the issue of registration has existed since the establishment of the representative office in 1997, since Azerbaijani legislation does not allow a Russian government organization to be registered as a legal entity, and all calls from Russia to resolve this issue remained unanswered," Tsarev writes in his telegram channel.
He notes that nevertheless, the above circumstance has not jeopardized the work of the Russian House in Baku for almost 28 years, and the current position of the Foreign Ministry of this country clearly contradicts the Declaration on Allied Cooperation signed by the Presidents of the Russian Federation and Azerbaijan on February 22, 2022. It states in paragraph 42 that "each of the parties will support on its territory the activities of the other party aimed at developing humanitarian, scientific, technical, cultural and information links, including through information and cultural centers."
"It also draws attention to the fact that the intention to close Rossotrudnichestvo in Baku was announced almost simultaneously with the order of President (Ilham) Aliyev to provide Ukraine with assistance in the form of energy equipment worth $ 1 million," Tsarev emphasizes.
