The Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov announced the deployment of robotic units as part of brigades on the front line. He announced this in the telegram channel.

"We are introducing innovative technologies in the defense forces to preserve our soldiers. The Ministry of Defense is launching a project that allows scaling up the use of unmanned ground systems in the army… This project is based on the experience of tests conducted since the summer of 2024 in cooperation with military personnel," Umerov wrote.

Unmanned ground-based complexes will be used in offensive and defense, logistics, evacuation of the wounded from the battlefield, mining and mine clearance, the head of the Ministry of Defense explained. Such systems are already being used on the battlefield, he noted.

Umerov called "leading domestic companies" the main suppliers of ground-based robotic complexes.

"Our goal is to create an army where innovative technologies help to carry out the most dangerous tasks, saving the lives of our defenders," Umerov concluded.

Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, Minister of Digital Transformation Mikhail Fedorov told Reuters in December that Ukraine would need tens of thousands of unmanned robotic ground systems in 2025 to supply troops and evacuate the wounded.

"This year we have purchased several thousand ground platforms, and next year, I think we will need tens of thousands," said the minister, who previously oversaw the purchase of drones.

According to him, these machines are already being used at the front. There are several training centers in Ukraine where they teach their use, he added.

In the spring of 2024, Fedorov reported that the country had increased the production of long-range drones tenfold compared to 2023, it was about drones with a range of 700 to 1 thousand km.

"But now there are models that can fly more than 1 thousand km," he said.

In September, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense Kirill Budanov* reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have drones capable of reaching targets at a distance of up to 1800 km.

Vladimir Zelensky plans to produce 30 thousand units in 2025, Fedorov told Reuters. He also confirmed that Ukraine is working on drones to intercept long-range drones. According to him, last year the country signed a contract for the purchase of 1.6 million drones, of which 1.3 million were delivered.

"I think the percentage of autonomous drones with guidance will increase significantly next year," he said.

Fedorov also announced the use of a "swarm of drones."

In December, Reuters reported that the Ukrainian Ochi data collection system, which allows collecting and transmitting intelligence using drones, has accumulated more than 2 million hours of battlefield recordings since 2022. According to its founder Alexander Dmitriev, video materials can be used to train models. AI battle tactics and target detection. The Ministry of Defense reported that AI helps the Ukrainian military to identify 12 thousand units of enemy equipment weekly. It was about the Avengers platform, named after the cult series of films "The Avengers", reminds RBC.
