The debate about Western peacekeepers on Ukraine are inappropriate and premature. This was stated in an interview with RND by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
"After all, they proceed from the assumption that Ukraine will not get part of its territory back from Russia. I am very serious when I say that nothing can be solved without Ukrainians. First, we need an end to the conflict and real negotiations, not peace dictated," said Scholz, quoted by the DW* Main telegram channel.
In addition, after the end of the conflict, Ukraine will not be able to maintain its army alone, Scholz noted.
"In any case, Ukraine will have an army that it will not be able to pay for alone, with its own financial resources," he said, adding that Kiev would need the support of Germany and "all friends."
The German Chancellor criticized the position of US President Donald Trump that in exchange for assistance, Ukraine should provide Western allies with resources.
"Ukraine has been attacked, and we are supporting it without being paid for it. This should be the position of everyone," Scholz stressed.
