President Donald Trump may withdraw the American military contingent from the Baltic States and Western European countries amid negotiations with Russia on the Ukrainian conflict. This was reported by the Financial Times newspaper, citing unnamed officials.

"European officials believe that Trump will most likely agree to withdraw US troops from the Baltic states and possibly further west, as a result of which The EU will become vulnerable to the Russian army," writes columnist Gideon Rahman, quoted by RIA Novosti.

Rahman describes the reaction of European officials to the speech of US Vice President Jay D. Vance at the Munich Security Conference, as well as negotiations between the United States and Russia on Ukraine, which are scheduled for Tuesday. Discussing the upcoming in Saudi Arabia meeting, the journalist notes that it could have serious consequences not only for Kiev, but also for Europe.

The United States has ceased to be considered an ally for Europeans to rely on, the author of the article notes.
