Elon Musk's SpaceX space company lost contact with the Starship rocket during the eighth test launch. The test flight was broadcast on the social network X.
A few minutes after the launch, the two parts of the rocket separated as planned, and the Super Heavy launch vehicle returned to the launch pad, where it was picked up using mechanical manipulators.
However, communication with the ship was lost.
"Unfortunately, we have lost communication, we are no longer receiving telemetry from the ship," said a company spokeswoman.
After the unsuccessful launch of Starship, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) The United States announced the temporary closure of airports in Florida due to the threat of debris, according to CBS News Miami. Social media users have been posting numerous videos of supposedly falling Starship debris.
The seventh test flight of Starship in mid-January was also unsuccessful. Then SpaceX's connection with the spacecraft was interrupted eight and a half minutes after launch. Musk said that the crash of the Starship rocket during the seventh test launch was due to a leak of oxygen or fuel, RBC reminds.
