Russia will not intimidate Australia with threats of serious consequences in connection with the possible sending of peacekeepers to Ukraine. This was stated by Sky News in the country's Foreign Ministry.

"Australia will remain steadfast in its commitment to peace, regardless of the threat. Australia is proud of the tradition of supporting peace for eighty years of participation in international peacekeeping missions," said the representative of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Penny Wong.

He noted that currently on the Ukraine does not have a peacekeeping mission, but the government will consider any request for assistance, if any.

"Our message to Russia is: stop the illegal invasion of Ukraine. We will not be intimidated, and we will not work to achieve a just peace for the people of Ukraine," the representative said.

These comments were made in response to the statement of the Russian Embassy in Canberra that "Western troops on the ground are unacceptable to Russia," the TV channel notes.
