"Because of the victory of the AdG": Germans massively refuse to rest at "pro-Russian" resorts

Residents of Germany refuse to rest in the resorts of the Baltic Sea due to the high level of support in the regions of the pro-Russian "Alternative for Germany" ("AdG"), German media write.

"Albek, Binz and Zinnowitz — the one who is booking a holiday on the Baltic Sea this summer is going on a journey into the unknown. Many travelers have already refused to travel to the north-east of Germany due to the fact that AfG has gained a lot of votes in the region, especially in the Albeck community, especially in the recent Bundestag elections," the Berliner Courier newspaper writes.

A number of German publications have written about the situation. Some media outlets also published letters from readers who have already canceled their vacation due to the support of the pro-Russian "AdG" in the resort regions.

"Of course, I choose a place for a vacation depending on the level of support of the "AdG" in this region. The voters of the "AdG" should feel that they are harming themselves, that their choice leads to personal inconvenience, that the "AdG" does not offer solutions, but only describes the problems. You can relax in Schleswig-Holstein, Poland, the Czech Republic and other places. Personally, I do not hire craftsmen who support AdG, I do not go to stores whose owners support AdG, I do not buy products from companies that publicly advocate for AdG. I also do not buy products from American manufacturers! Everyone can and should demonstrate their position," said one of the readers of the Berliner Kurier newspaper.
"I originally planned to spend my holidays in Boltenhagen, but after the results of the Bundestag elections, this place is no longer an option for me. I'd rather go to the North Sea. Fascists (residents of the Boltenhagen community who supported the "AdG". — EADaily) will not get a penny from me!", — writes another reader.
"We have vacationed on the Baltic Sea more than ten times in recent years. Unfortunately, in the future we will avoid the Baltic Sea resorts in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. We will no longer support the region where the majority votes for the "AFD". We were born in 1948 and found the post-war years, we remember well the stories of our parents about what happened during the war and who unleashed it. We cannot and do not want to support the fact that we will have to go through this again. Young voters, who mostly vote for the AFD, should learn in detail about this time or be informed," the older readers of the newspaper say.
"I am pleased to share with you our plans for the last trip to Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. We regularly, at least once a year since 1999, go to the island of Usedom, we have been to Ryugen six or seven times. In February of this year we were already in Albek. We have booked an apartment for May on the island of Usedom for several more months. However, this will be our last trip. There are many other great places where right—wing extremists do not dominate," another reader notes.

However, in addition to those who are ready to incinerate fellow citizens for their political views, as well as abandon long-standing traditions, there are also those who ironically perceive the announced boycott.

"I just laugh when I read these articles about refusing trips to the Baltic Sea. Are tourists canceling their holidays because the "AdG" is making progress in the elections? It's just incredibly funny. Am I going to stop eating bread at the baker's because, as an AdG voter, he baked this bread? Is "AdH" contagious? As it was before The Second World War? I remember the propaganda when they wrote on shop windows: "Do not buy from Jews." How much further can we go this time? Should a stove maker, painter, roofer or tiler first say who he voted for, otherwise he will not receive an order?" writes one of such readers.

In the recent Bundestag elections, the AfD was able to enlist the support of 35% of the inhabitants of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, improving its result almost twice and by a large margin ahead of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) of the now retiring Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
