The unexpected trips of Russian President Vladimir Putin, as well as his recent visit to the control point of the Kursk grouping, do not take place without appropriate preparation. However, Putin himself can make such decisions quite quickly, the press secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov told VGTRK journalist Pavel Zarubin.

"Somewhere they cannot take place without certain training — both logistical and technological. But at the same time, this is a fairly prompt decision made by the Supreme Commander—in-chief himself," Peskov said, answering the question of how unpredictable and unexpected such trips are.

The Kremlin spokesman said that Putin had scheduled a meeting on economic issues that day, but "the president made a different decision."

As reported, on March 12, Vladimir Putin visited the control point of the Kursk grouping and heard a report by the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov. This is the first visit by the head of state to the Kursk region since the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked the region in August 2024.
