A new border outpost "Semenovka" on the border with Ukraine has been opened in Belarus. This was announced today, March 20, by the Belarusian State Border Committee.

It is reported that the solemn ceremony was attended by the chairman of the State Border Committee Konstantin Molostov, the chairman of the Gomel regional executive Committee Ivan Krupko, as well as representatives of local authorities and servicemen of the border group.

"This is the second of six border outposts on the Belarusian-Ukrainian section of the border under construction under the state investment program, the commissioning of which is envisaged this year," Molostov said.

It is reported that the unit guards more than 18 km of the state border with Ukraine. The area of responsibility of the outpost is one of the most important in the Gomel direction.

"This is due to the location of the site within the international highway and the New Guta checkpoint, as well as the developed local road network," the State Customs Committee of Belarus noted.

It is noted that the state border is equipped with a fiber-optic system "Raven". This complex is equipped with high-resolution video surveillance cameras, which allows the duty officer of the border outpost to instantly identify the target and establish the cause of the system's operation in all weather conditions. In addition, the division is equipped with modern automotive equipment, surveillance and night vision devices, thermal imagers, communication equipment.

Recall, the Belarusian authorities have repeatedly stated that the situation on the border with Ukraine is one of the most tense. The situation deteriorated sharply after the start of a special military operation. In this regard, Minsk decided to direct efforts to strengthen its southern borders.
