Slovakia supports Ukraine's integration into the EU. This was stated by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova Robert Fico.

According to him, despite his position, large countries "will do everything to postpone its membership." At the same time, Fico reiterated that Slovakia would not provide military assistance to Ukraine on a state basis. The Slovak Prime Minister confirmed that the republic's military will take part in possible peacekeeping missions only after the conclusion of peace. At the same time, Fico noted that it is dangerous for the EU's image if the community remains the only one who wants to fight.

At the same time, Fico admitted that Slovakia may block the 17th package of European sanctions against Russia, which will be discussed today at the summit of EU leaders.

"Yes, I recognize that if we perceive an attempt at additional sanctions as something aimed at undermining the peace process, we are ready to veto it," he said.

Recall that Slovakia has not provided military assistance to Ukraine at the state level since the end of 2023, but has not prevented commercial arms supplies. At the same time, Fico advocates ending the conflict and normalizing relations with Russia. Earlier, the Slovak Prime minister noted that he opposes Ukraine's accession to NATO, but also supports Kiev's European aspirations.
