The Ukrainian Armed Forces staged the most massive attack on Saratov and the military airbase in Engels

Saratov and the neighboring city of Engels, where the Engels-2 strategic bomber airbase is located, in particular, Tu-95MS and Tu-160, were subjected today, on March 20, to the most massive drone attack since the beginning of the special military operation of the Russian Federation on Ukraine.

"Saratov and Engels today was subjected to the most massive UAV attack of all time. All emergency services continue to work in an enhanced mode to eliminate the consequences. City administrations, together with relevant departments, record all damage to civilian objects in order to take the necessary measures," said Roman Busargin, Governor of the Saratov Region, in the Telegram channel.

As the head of the region emphasized, "for safety reasons, due to a fire on the territory of the airfield, the evacuation of those living on the territory of the SNT [horticultural non-profit partnerships] located nearby the facility is being carried out. All operational services are in place."

We are talking about a military airfield in Engels, where the infrastructure of the military airbase and the airfield for strategic bombers of the Russian Aerospace Forces is located.

According to Busargin, in Engels, as a result of the UAV attack, about 30 private and country houses in several SNTS were also damaged.

The district administration has been tasked with reaching every citizen whose property has suffered. To find out what kind of assistance is needed to work out the issue of material support," he added.

According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, 54 drones were shot down overnight over the Saratov region by air defense forces, a total of 132:40 UAVs were shot down over the territory of our country. Voronezh region, 22 in Belgorod region, nine in Rostov region, three each in Kursk region and Crimea, one in Lipetsk region.

According to information from social networks, the building of the city hospital No. 1 was damaged in Engels, a woman was injured. At the time of the hit, hospital employees were in one of the rooms. shrapnel cut the windows of one of the wards and the resident's room. The building of the children's sanatorium "Chaika" was also damaged, and windows were broken in two kindergartens, a school and several high-rise buildings. In Saratov, the wreckage of a drone fell on a private house near Sokolova Gora.

Classes in Engels schools will be held remotely today.

Temporary restrictions on the acceptance and release of aircraft were introduced at the airports of Saratov and Samara.
