The United States will build the largest diplomatic mission in Central Asia in Alma-Ata. The area of the land plot allocated for the construction of the American Consulate General exceeds 70 thousand square meters. The corresponding agreement was ratified by deputies of the lower house of the Parliament of Kazakhstan.

According to the information of the legislative body, the amount of rent for the land plot will be $ 25 301 016. The amount will be paid in a single payment within 30 calendar days from the date of entry into force of the agreement. At the same time, the American government is exempt from paying any taxes and other payments on the land and the consulate building.

"The construction of the new US Consulate General will lead to an expansion of the number and quality of consular services, business development, improvement of the city's infrastructure and creation of new jobs for local staff in the long term. Employees and their family members will collectively use the trade, spiritual, entertainment and natural facilities of the southern capital," Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Akan Rakhmetullin said on this occasion.

As stated in the US Embassy in In Kazakhstan, the new consular complex will contribute to strengthening security, stability and prosperity not only of Kazakhstan and Central Asia, but also of the United States.

The American diplomatic mission in Almaty will be the largest in Central Asia and the second in the post-Soviet space after the US Embassy in Armenia.
