In Russia, fraudsters have mastered a new scheme in which the victim is persuaded, under various pretexts, to install an application on the device that distributes malicious software (software).

This was reported on April 12 by the TASS news agency, referring to the press service of the Department for organizing the fight against the illegal use of information and communication technologies (UBC) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

They explained that with the help of this Software attackers get the opportunity to steal personal data of citizens for the purpose of their further use for criminal purposes.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as part of one of the schemes, users are invited to perform simple actions for payment, for example, to like a post on a social network. When the victim agrees and installs the mobile application, malware is downloaded to her device, which steals all the data available on the device.

Another option may be to offer to fill in the data yourself. So, in a fraudulent application that helps to monitor health, they may offer to track physical activity.

In connection with this new type of threat, the law enforcement agency strongly recommends downloading applications to mobile devices only from trusted sources.

Earlier, EADaily reported that Russian fraudsters have mastered a new scheme for robbing pensioners. Elderly people are deceived under the pretext of recalculation of seniority and money is stolen.
