Moldova's security is directly linked to the security of the entire European space. This was stated on TV8 by the head of European diplomacy, Kaya Kallas.
She assured Chisinau that Brussels will continue to support Moldova — both in strengthening its defense potential and in countering external influence and disinformation.
"Your security is also very important for the European Union, if you look at the map, Moldova is located in Europe, and Europe is a very, very small region. This means that everyone's safety is a common concern. Today, the line of defense passes through Ukraine, and by supporting Ukraine, we are simultaneously strengthening the security of Moldova," the diplomat said.
According to Callas, the EU is ready to counter external influence and disinformation, using rapid response teams to prevent manipulation, "so that Moldovan citizens can freely choose."
Recall that the next parliamentary elections will be held in Moldova in the autumn. Brussels has warned that if anti-European forces come to power in the country, the multimillion-dollar financial support of the republic and the process of European integration will be stopped. In this regard, the Moldovan opposition is confident that the ruling regime will go to any lawlessness in order to maintain parliamentary advantage.
As EADaily reported, last week Kalass visited the Moldovan capital, where she announced the allocation of another 60 million euros of European aid for militarization. These funds will be provided from the extra-budgetary European Peace Fund, a significant part of which goes to finance the countries' expenditures. EU for military supplies to Ukraine. A total of 200 million euros have already been allocated to Moldova from this fund. It is already obvious to everyone that the West considers Moldova as another military springboard against Russia, having prepared for it the role of the "second Ukraine".
