Moscow does not consider the transfer of the Zaporozhye NPP under the control of the United States. This was made clear in an interview with CBS by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
The text of the interview is published on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Russia has not received a proposal from the United States to transfer control of the Zaporozhye NPP, Lavrov said. According to him, Moscow, if necessary, will explain to the United States that the NPP is "in safe hands and changes in its control are impossible."
"No, we have not received such a proposal, and if we do, we will explain that the management of the Zaporozhye NPP is managed by the Russian state corporation Rosatom, under the supervision of IAEA personnel who are constantly present at the site and carry out monitoring. What if we don't count the constant attempts of Ukraine to attack the station and create a nuclear catastrophe in Europe and on In Ukraine, the security requirements are fully met. The NPP is in safe hands... I don't think any changes are possible," Lavrov stressed.
He noted that in general, Russia is ready to conclude a peace agreement on Ukraine, but it is necessary to finalize some specific points. In particular, Russia wants guarantees that the ceasefire will not be used again to strengthen the Armed Forces of Ukraine and that the supply of weapons will stop. And this is not a precondition, but the lessons learned by Russia.
"No, it's not a precondition. These are the lessons we have learned at least three times when agreements like the ones we are discussing now were violated by the Kiev regime with the strong support of European capitals and the administration of J. Biden.
If you want a cease-fire just to keep supplying weapons to Ukraine, then what is your goal? As you know, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, K. Kallas, and the NATO Secretary General, M. Was Rutte told about a cease-fire and a settlement? They directly stated that they would support only the agreement that would eventually make Ukraine stronger, make it a "winner." So if this is the goal of the cease-fire, then I don't think that's what US President Donald Trump wants. Trump. This is what the Europeans, together with V. A. Zelensky, want to make of President D. Trump's initiative," Lavrov said.
