Uzbekistan will not join any coalitions and will not let any countries to deploy their military bases in its territory, Uzbek President Islam Karimov said on Jan 14, while congratulating the Uzbek army on its 24th birthday.
“Our military doctrine is based on defense. Our goal is to protect our sovereignty, territorial integrity and peace. We are not going to join any coalitions and will not let anybody to place their military bases in our territory,” Karimov said.
He said that his country was amicable and was not going to join any military-political alliances. “Nor are we going to take part in any peacekeeping operations abroad,” the Uzbek president said.
