A Belarusian court has sentenced to capital punishment (execution) a German citizen, mercenary Rico Grieger, who served in the Kastus Kalinowski regiment.

According to Spiegel, the German soldier of fortune has been in custody in Minsk since November 2023. At the same time, the German Foreign Ministry had the opportunity to carry out consular supervision and actively work with the Belarusian authorities in the interests of a German citizen.

In addition, there is a lot of hype around this case in the Western media, where Griger is often called a "Red Cross employee", although the organization itself refutes this information.

However, all these efforts were not successful. During the closed trial, the 30-year-old defendant was found guilty of six criminal offenses.

The prosecution managed to fully prove his involvement in the diversions in the Russian-Belarusian-Ukrainian border area, that is, in the Bryansk, Gomel or Mogilev regions.

It was also established that in 2023, as a mercenary, Griger went to Ukraine, where he joined the nationalist armed formation "Kastus Kalinouski Regiment" and engaged in sabotage activities.

According to unconfirmed information from informed sources in Minsk, Rico Krieger was captured by the Russian military during the fighting, after which he was extradited to the Belarusian authorities.

Earlier, EADaily reported that in the battles for the city of Hours, Yar German mercenary snipers are taking part in Donbas on the side of the Kiev regime troops.
