The South Korean company KIGAM in 2025 will begin the development of a large lithium deposit in East Kazakhstan region. This was told to journalists by the Minister of Industry and Construction of Kazakhstan Kanat Sharlapayev.

According to him, geological studies of the available reserves have not yet been completed. Accordingly, their volume has not yet been confirmed.

"As soon as the Korean investor confirms, we will talk about how it will be developed. In this case, we are talking about it a little prematurely," Sharlapayev said.

He added that in order for extraction to be economically profitable, it is necessary to carry out a sufficiently large number of works.

"I would not divide the skin of an unkillable bear right now, but would wait until we prove the reserves, understand that they are technologically recoverable. And then we will return to this conversation," concluded Sharlapaev.
