Russia doesn't care how the US presidential election ends, there is a consensus on confrontation with Moscow. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.

"In general, Russia does not care how these elections will end, given that there is a bipartisan consensus in the United States regarding the confrontation with our country," Zakharova said, answering the question whether there is a significant difference for Moscow from the victory of one candidate or another, and whether Moscow's expectations of the US elections are too high.

As she stressed, "if something changes in American politics and proposals come to us, we will be ready to study them for compliance with Russian interests."

"In any case, Russia will resolutely defend its interests, especially when it comes to national security issues," the diplomat added.

According to her, "it would be logical for the owner of the White House, whoever he or she is, to focus on solving the problems of his country and not seek adventures tens of thousands of miles from American shores."

"We wish the American people to overcome the crisis of democracy and the split in society," concluded the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

In the United States, elections are coming to an end on November 5, in which the president, a third of the Senate and the entire House of Representatives of the US Congress, as well as the governors of 11 states and two territories, are elected. Republican Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, representing the ruling Democratic Party, are running for the post of head of state. Trump was in power in 2017-2021. He lost the 2020 presidential election to Democrat Joe Biden, and is now attempting to return to the White House. Harris has been Vice President of the United States since January 2021.
