Ukrainian actress Larisa Kadochnikova, who played the main role in the film "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors," refused to speak to the public at the Sergei Parajanov Award ceremony, and therefore became the target of attacks by nationalists.

Kadochnikova was speaking in Russian, she was interrupted from the audience by shouting "In Ukrainian, please!". But the 88-year-old actress refused.

"In Ukrainian, I play in the theater (Lesya Ukrainka. — Ed.). I'm sorry, but I have the right to speak at least in English. Do you hear? Respect me. I have done a lot for Ukraine. I didn't go anywhere. I'm here. I play plays in the theater in the Ukrainian language," Kadochnikova said.

The audience supported the actress with applause.

As it turned out, activist Ruslan Koshovenko demanded that she switch to Ukrainian, whose twin brother, Vladimir, was on the march in honor of the division SS Galicia in April 2021. Both brothers used to be in the "mov patrol".

Commenting on the incident, Ruslan Koshovenko called Kadochnikova an "honored artist of Russia," and then a "hen" and a "chick." He expressed surprise at the fact that "the whole hall pounced on me, and applauded her."

Koshovenko was supported by the scandalous Russophobic writer Larisa Nitsoy. She called the actress a "Ukrainophobe." Especially outraged was the fact that Kadochnikova was supported by the audience: "Filmmakers in the hall of the Cinema House at her demarche against the Ukrainian language exclaimed: "Bravo!"and they applauded, supporting the Moscow position."
