More than half of the population of Greenland, where about 57 thousand people live, are in favor of joining their island, located in the north-east of North America, to the United States. This is evidenced by the data of a survey conducted on January 6-11 by the American non-governmental organization Patriot Polling.
The majority of respondents (57.3%) said they approve of the idea of joining the United States, 37.4% opposed. 5.3% of respondents could not decide on the answer.
The compilers of the survey, which was attended by 416 residents of Greenland, note that at the time of its holding, the son of the US President—elect Donald Trump Jr. visited Greenland, TASS reports.
As reported, on January 7, Donald Trump, who will take office as president of the United States on January 20, said that Greenland should become part of the United States to protect against Chinese and Russian threats.
