A compromise has been found on an intermediary for the purchase of gas by Transnistria

At the end of this week, European gas may reach Transnistria. This was confirmed by the President of the PMR Vadim Krasnoselsky at the meeting of the anti-crisis Operations Center held today, January 27.

"A compromise has been found on the search for a European intermediary who will supply gas to Transnistria. As I have already said, Tiraspoltransgaz guarantees payment. Processes are underway in this regard. Pridnestrovie is doing everything possible to ensure that the gas supply takes place," the head of the republic noted.

Recall, from January 1 of this year, Ukraine stopped the transit of Russian gas through its territory, and Gazprom announced the suspension of supplies to Moldova due to an unresolved issue with debt obligations. As a result, Transnistria was completely left without energy resources. In these circumstances, Tiraspol agreed with Chisinau's demand to purchase gas on the European market with the transport assistance of Moldovagaz. However, Chisinau in every possible way delays the supply of energy resources vital for Pridnestrovie under the pretext that it checks the intermediary company for non-compliance with international sanctions and compliance of the transaction with national legislation.

It is expected that the agreement with the Hungarian companies MOL and MVM will be signed in the near future, which will allow the start of deliveries of blue fuel to Transnistria is already in the first days of February, unless Chisinau again tries to block this route. So far, Tiraspol has appealed to the Moldovan authorities with a request to borrow 3 million cubic meters. This volume is necessary to prevent the suffocation of gas networks, the pressure in which is rapidly falling.

Commenting on the joint statement made the day before by Moldovan President Maia Sandu and the head of the Kiev regime Vladimir Zelensky that coal from Ukraine, which they are ready to supply to MoldGRES in exchange for electricity, will help Transnistria out of the energy crisis, Krasnoselsky noted that the station's re-equipment will take a long time and will require additional investments. The raw material offered by Kiev is gas coal, and MoldGRES needs only anthracite.

"The alteration of only one block is more than a year, under normal conditions, which we do not have, more than a year. And it costs more than 50 million euros. That's the answer to all the questions. At the same time, Ukrainian specialists who have been to Moldova understand and know this very well. Of course, dear people, Presidents, there are no questions. But, of course, those officials who give them information either do not know themselves, or deliberately mislead people," concluded Vadim Krasnoselsky.

As EADaily reported , if gas supplies to Transnistria will not resume in the coming days, irreversible humanitarian and economic consequences await the region. Gas reserves in the Transnistrian system remain for several days, coal at MoldGRES will run out in mid-February.
