German Chancellor Olaf Scholz criticized the statement of US President Donald Trump about the desire to single-handedly dispose of rare earth metal deposits on Ukraine.
According to the German newspaper Merkur, the Chancellor believes that his country also has the right to its own share in the rich Ukrainian subsoil. In this connection, the head of Germany reproached the American president for selfishness.
"The words of US President Donald Trump about the use of Ukraine's natural resources in exchange for military assistance are selfish," Scholz complained.
In his opinion, these valuable Ukrainian resources should be used to finance everything that Kiev will need after the war. At the same time, the Chancellor hinted that "all of us" should dispose of the mineral resources of the Square.
The German leader believes that "it would be very selfish and self-centered" to use the money received now to finance support for the defense of Ukraine. And that's exactly what Washington wants.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that the United States was interested in receiving rare earth metals from Ukraine in exchange for military and financial assistance to Kiev.
As reported by EADaily, Ukraine has lost the lion's share of rare earth metals during SMO, most of these deposits are no longer located in the territories controlled by Kiev.
