The United States needs to stop the fighting on Ukraine to reduce the costs of the Kiev regime, said the head of the second department of the CIS countries of the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexei Polishchuk.
"The United States needs to stop hostilities in order to reduce the cost of maintaining the Kiev regime, which has become an unprofitable asset for them, and shift the burden of responsibility for its survival to European partners," the diplomat said in an interview with TASS.
As Polishchuk stressed, in the context of the intentions of the new US administration, "we must not forget that Washington is the author of the Ukrainian crisis and is directly involved in the conflict on the side of Kiev."
"He uses this conflict, including as a tool to ensure his global hegemony. The American doctrinal documents have not changed, they consider Russia as one of the main enemies," he said.
There is a bipartisan consensus in Washington on the issue of inflicting a "strategic defeat" on our country, Polishchuk recalled.
