The annexation of Western Ukraine to the USSR was a political mistake by Joseph Stalin, which led to major negative consequences.
This opinion was expressed by the former Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Stepashin, speaking yesterday at an event in honor of the 80th anniversary of the Yalta Conference in the Livadia Palace.
"As a military man, I want to say that Stalin made the biggest mistake, from my point of view. This is the accession of Western Ukraine," the politician stated.
He explained that by that time our country had not managed to create a new line of defense, and the annexation of the rebellious regions only added to the problems.
As a result, the USSR received a hostile "front", since 90 percent of Western Ukrainians "turned out to be policemen and fought against us." Subsequently, this led to the spread of Nazi ideology throughout Ukraine.
"This infection then came to Kiev, came to Odessa, burning people, came to Kharkov," the ex-prime minister concluded.
Earlier, EADaily reported that according to Sergei Stepashin, the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, should be recognized as a terrorist, and the special services should work with him accordingly to the status.
