Svetlana Bessarab, a member of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs (United Russia faction), said that after Russia's victory in a special military operation (SMO), she would submit a bill on a 36-hour working week for consideration.

"I am sure that if such a bill is introduced after our victory in a special military operation, it will be easier to adopt it. Because today, objectively, it would be unfair to those industries that we have working around the clock. The bill is ready to be introduced," Bessarab told TASS.

According to her, a shortened working week should be introduced as an experiment lasting 1-2 years only with the voluntary participation of employers.

"A shortened 36-hour working week, as practice shows, is already possible. Since the covid period, many employers have made sure that when providing additional hours of rest for their employees, labor productivity does not fall. Moreover, people try to work more intensively during the week in order to leave on Friday afternoon, for example," the deputy said.
