In 2024, foreign investors invested $ 6.9 billion in the real sector of the Belarusian economy. This was announced today, February 12, by the National Statistical Committee of the republic.
It is reported that the inflow of foreign direct investment amounted to $ 5.2 billion, or 74.8% of all foreign investments received. At the same time, Belarusian organizations sent $ 4.9 billion worth of investments abroad, of which 80.8% accounted for direct investments. Belstat also noted that data on foreign investments are presented in addition to banks, non-bank financial institutions, the Development Bank and budget organizations.
It should be recalled that Belarus has been under tough sanctions from Western countries since 2020. This has significantly reduced the opportunities for foreign investment to enter the republic. In recent years, Russia has been the main investor in the economy of Belarus.
