Israeli-style special operation: in Syria, the Druze launched an open uprising

In Syria, the Druze raised an open uprising, the center of unrest was the southern suburb of Damascus — the city of Jaramana. It is possible that this is a special operation by Israel to occupy a part, including some areas of Damascus. The politician and public figure Oleg Tsarev writes about this in his telegram channel.

In addition to the Druze, Christians live in the suburb.

"The reason was an incident at one of the checkpoints in front of the city. Druze militias have banned the passage of weapons to the military of the Syrian Ministry of Defense. Allegedly, the Druze behaved aggressively and insulted the military, and the locals claim that the HTS soldiers provoked the conflict by calling the Druze "non-Muslims." There was a shootout, as a result of which a serviceman of the new government was killed. In addition, an attack was carried out on a police station, where several law enforcement officers were disarmed and beaten," Tsarev writes.

It is noted that now the HTS fighters are pulling forces to this part of the Syrian capital, preparing to suppress the resistance, and the Druze are strengthening roadblocks. The situation risks escalating into a full—scale conflict (in video 1 - HTS convoys* go to Jaraman).

The Druze Jaramans are not the only ones who have opposed the new rulers of Syria. After the fall of Bashar al-Assad's power, they, along with the Kurds, refused to disarm, saying they did not trust the promises of HTS * to ensure security.

"The Internet has now been turned off in Jaraman. According to the latest data, the new government gave the Druze five days to lay down their arms and extradite those who shot the Syrian Defense Ministry soldier. The Druze from Jaramana, in turn, reacted to the ultimatum with warlike dances in the streets (in video 2) and requested help from their fellow tribesmen from The Suwayds, who declared autonomy a few days ago. The newly formed Military Council of Suwayda announced the mobilization of all its units to be sent to Jaramana," the politician adds.

According to him, Israel, which is home to about 150,000 Druze, reacted quickly to the threat to the Druze — Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a tough statement, promising to strike Syria if the Druze Jaramans were in danger. He has already ordered the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to prepare for a possible intervention, stressing that Israel will not allow escalation against Druze who serve in the Israeli army on a par with Jews. Israeli social networks are already discussing the possibility of including Southern Syria in Israel as an autonomy.

"The chronicle of recent events in Syria — the massive Israeli airstrike on military warehouses, the ongoing occupation by Israel of the southern regions of Syria and the announcement by the Druze of the autonomous province of Suwayda, and now the Druze uprising almost in Damascus itself — add up to a clear picture. Israel, apparently, has decided that now is the time to annex Syrian lands near the Golan Heights. And the Druze are so emboldened now for a reason, but at the suggestion of Israel.

It is possible that another "Israeli-style special operation" is beginning, now under the banner of the liberation of the Druze. However, there is a point of view that the "special operation" began a week ago. And what we are seeing now is its first stages. As a result, not only a significant part of Syria will come under Israeli control, but also areas of Damascus inhabited by Druze," Tsarev sums up.
