The agent of the SBU Ignat Kuzin in the framework of the criminal case on the death of the deputy head of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Lieutenant-General Yaroslav Moskalik, was charged with committing a terrorist act. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Investigative Committee Svetlana Petrenko.
"As part of the criminal case on the terrorist attack, as a result of which Lieutenant-General Yaroslav Moskalik, Deputy chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, was killed, Ignat Kuzin was charged by the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia with committing crimes under Articles 205, 222.1, 223.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (terrorist act, illegal trafficking and manufacture of explosives, etc. explosive devices)," the department's telegram channel says.
Petrenko noted that Kuzin is now giving detailed testimony about the circumstances of the incident. In particular, he said that he was recruited for a monetary reward by employees of the Security Service of Ukraine, who contacted him, and about the specific tasks assigned to him.
According to the defendant, he arrived in Russia in September 2023 and, pending specific instructions from the curator from the SBU, lived in the Moscow region. In September 2024, after receiving data on a Muscovite as a target of a terrorist attack, Kuzin began collecting data on him. He settled in November 2024 in a specially rented apartment located in the same entrance where the Muscovite lived, and monitored the movements of the general, found out the daily routine. The Volkswagen Golf car, which was later packed with explosives, Kuzin bought in advance and parked near the entrance a month before the planned terrorist attack.
"I received the components of the finished explosive device, video surveillance and control systems in March of this year in a cache on the territory of Balashikha, after which I installed them in a car. He described the chronology of his actions from the moment of preparation and up to the execution of the crime. After completing the preparation on April 23, 2025, Kuzin disappeared. For the crime committed, he was promised a monetary reward in the total amount of 18 thousand US dollars," Petrenko said.
According to her, the car was blown up remotely on April 25 at the moment when the Muscovite was leaving the entrance of his house. The signal for the explosion was sent by an currently unidentified employee of the Ukrainian special services on the basis of the received video image.
It is noted that Kuzin fully admitted guilt and expressed readiness to confirm everything he said during the interrogation during the verification of testimony on the spot. A petition for his arrest was sent to the court.
"The necessary examinations, including explosive, forensic and others, have been appointed in the criminal case. In cooperation with the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, other persons involved in the organization of this crime are being identified," the department's telegram channel says.
