Trump will be pleased: Hands off my nuclear power plants — Independent

The British newspaper The Independent published an article on the front page today with the headline "Zelensky defies Trump: Hands off my nuclear power plants."

The leader of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, insists that "all nuclear power plants belong to the people of Ukraine" after President Donald Trump's statement that the transfer of the country's nuclear energy under US control will provide "better protection" for it, the newspaper writes.

"In their first conversation since Trump verbally attacked Zelensky at the White House and kicked him out, the US president reportedly suggested that Washington take responsibility for Ukraine's energy infrastructure. But Kiev claims that it was only about the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, which is under Russian occupation," the publication says.

According to Zelensky, all nuclear power plants on the Ukraine are state-owned and belong to Kiev, the newspaper notes.

"The front page of the British newspaper The Independent is funny today… It will be necessary to show this cover to Trump — he will be pleased," political commentator Vladimir Kornilov comments on the picture of the day.
