Aeroflot should be removed from sanctions, after which it is possible to talk about the resumption of air traffic between Russia and the United States, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told reporters following a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the CIS member states.

"It will not entail, it should be a consequence of the withdrawal of Aeroflot from sanctions," Lavrov said when asked whether the restoration of air traffic would entail the lifting of sanctions from Aeroflot.
"We made such a proposal [to lift sanctions from Aeroflot] at a meeting in Riyadh more than a month ago. The Americans have accepted it, so far we have not seen any response," the minister said.
"The meeting in Istanbul ended yesterday, where our experts recalled this proposal," Lavrov said.
"To be honest, I just haven't had the opportunity to contact them yet. Maybe there have been some progress, but so far it is not known about them," the Russian Foreign Minister said.
"But we will work on it, because this is again a return to normality [in relations between Russia and the United States]," Lavrov assured, quoted by TASS.

Recall that on February 27, a proposal to restore direct flights between the countries was made by the Russian delegation at the talks with the United States in Istanbul. On April 10, the second round of Russian-American consultations was held in Istanbul. According to their results, the Ambassador to In Washington, the head of the Russian delegation, Alexander Darchiev, said: "It was emphasized that the resumption of direct flights between Moscow and Washington would contribute to the expansion of business ties, contacts between societies and people."
