Armenia’s foreign ministry slams Israeli foreign minister

Armenia’s foreign ministry has commented on participation of Israel’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Avigdor Lieberman in a meeting dedicated to the Khojali events.

“It is inappropriate that any politician could allow himself to be dragged in the Azerbaijani cheap manipulations,” says Spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry of Armenia Tigran Balayan, the foreign ministry press office told EAD.

A ceremony to commemorate the victims of the Khojali events was reportedly held in Acre, Israel, on February 26. APA reports citing the State Committee for Diaspora that the event was organized by the Azerbaijan-Israel International Association (Aziz) on sidelines of the campaign “Justice for Khojali” and brought together such high-ranking officials as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Avigdor Lieberman, member of Knesset Alex Miller, Acre Deputy Mayors Zaev Neuman and Kiryat Yam, Milli Mejlis MP Fuad Muradov, representatives  of the Israeli public, Azerbaijani diaspora and mass media. The guests visited a photo exposition telling about the Khojali events. According to the source, Aziz has organized similar expositions also in other cities of Israel as part of the “Justice for Khojali” campaign.

In his speech at the event, the foreign minister of Israel said that the history of humanity is full with tragedies.  “They shouldn't be forgotten. However, unfortunately, not all remember and learn lesson from those events. We have gathered here today to combine the experience of Israel and Azerbaijan in order to prevent such tragedies in the future,”  Lieberman said.

Aziz President, Knesset MP Alex Miller, in turn, said they will get the exposition “Justice for Khojali” to be held at the Knesset next year to inform more people about the “Kjhojali tragedy.”
