Tajikistan overcomes winter energy crisis

Electric power supply restrictions that were imposed in Tajikistan last October have been lifted, Barqi Tojik open joint stock holding company announced on February 24.

According to the company, favorable weather helped power engineers improve power supply comparing to the previous years.  Restrictions on power supply have been lifted throughout the country, as there are sufficient water reserves in Nurek water reservoir, the company says. This year the restrictions were cancelled four days earlier than in 2015.

Barqi Tojik says the current water and fuel reserves are sufficient for power engineers to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply to the country.

Tajikistan sets a limit for power consumption every year in the winter season for a period of 5-6 months, depending on the weather and other circumstances.
