Pete Hegseth, nominated by US President-elect Donald Trump for the post of head of the Ministry of Defense, refused to confirm in Congress that he would support the continuation of assistance to Kiev. He stated this at a hearing in the Senate Armed Services Committee devoted to the consideration of his candidacy.
"If approved, I will ensure that the Ministry of Defense plays a key role in national efforts to support the Special Envoy for Ukraine and Russia," said Hegseth, quoted by TASS.
This is how Hegseth answered the question of whether he considers it important for the United States to continue helping Ukraine in the field of security, including after the conflict is over.
