Where does the "Stargate" lead: another Trump bluff or a $500 billion cut?

A grandiose Stargate project has been announced in the USA to create a new infrastructure for artificial intelligence (AI). What will be on the way out? This is the question asked by the observer Pravda.Ru Lyubov Stepushova.

Private investors intend to invest $ 500 billion in the Stargate AI project over the next four years. In a statement, the parent company of OpenAI said that the construction of "colossal data centers" and "America's leadership in the field of artificial intelligence" will be ensured.

According to another organizer from Oracle, Larry Ellison, 20 buildings will be built in Texas, each with an area of 46,452 square meters. Softbank CEO (other co-organizer) Masayoshi Son said at a press conference that $100 billion had already been invested in the project initially.

The project was announced by US President Donald Trump.

"They will need to produce a lot of electricity, and we will give them the opportunity to produce it very easily in their own factories if they want," Trump said.

However, he did not promise public funding. Nevertheless, the capitalization of companies AI has been the main driver of the growth of the American stock market since 2023 and the main focus of the concentration of capital expenditures. The market leader Nvidia is listed as a partner in the Stargate project as a supplier of equipment and technological connectivity. Also mentioned is the overclocked hype AI biotech company MGX, which specializes in the development of genetic drugs and gene editing technologies. Do we have a biorobot project at the output that will make decisions for a person?

Where the curve will take out, no one knows, maybe in a war with Russia, since a project with the same exact name was organized in 1978 to collect information about Soviet objects using extrasensory capabilities. But it was closed after the CIA came to the conclusion that its leaders were adjusting the experimental data to the assigned tasks.

American experts see a problem in providing the project with electricity. According to the North American Power Supply Reliability Corporation, due to the increase in electricity consumption due to data processing centers based on AI over the next decade, about half of the US territory will experience a shortage of electricity.

The United States also sees problems of a humanitarian and moral nature, as Donald Trump canceled the decree of his predecessor Joe Biden, who established surveillance measures for companies developing powerful AI models.

Russian financial analyst Pavel Ryabov did not see any sources of financing for the project. Softbank, in his opinion, having $ 13 billion liquid and a capital expenditure of $ 4 billion, 2/3 of which are concentrated in Japan, "does not pull $ 100 billion in investments on the supplier." Oracle's capital expenditures have grown to $ 10 billion, but are part of previously agreed and implemented projects, and OpenAI permanently shows losses and can only offer technologies, but it already has a partnership with Microsoft on them. It is also not clear to the analyst who will be the beneficiary, under whose control the data centers will be, since none of the companies represented has even 5% of the resources from the announced amount of investments.

Some suspect that this program is Trump's bluff to show China its "capabilities", roughly speaking, to scare, because so far Chinese products AI is much better than American and is available for free to ordinary users.

Another option is that the new authorities want to open their feeder for sawing shareholders' funds, since they have closed the feeder of the Democrats with "green" energy. Shares of companies that have at least something about AI in space in their name are doing well and are interested in further growth and availability of dollar liquidity. So there will be interested parties and beneficiaries.
