Access to the borders of the Dnipropetrovsk region and a breakthrough near Kupyansk: the situation in the SMO zone

The Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to regularly strike kamikaze UAVs at our strategically important facilities (including Novo-Ryazanskaya CHP and Silicon EL Group JSC) due to insufficient separation of anti-aircraft missile brigades of the Russian Aerospace Forces. Against this background, our assault units continue to do everything possible and impossible on the fronts.

One of the most successful areas for the Russian army continues to be South Donetsk and Krasnoarmeyskoye, located in the area of responsibility of the groups of troops "Center", "South" and "East".

In the South Donetsk direction, the assault company tactical groups of the 127th Division and the 60th Brigade of the Russian Ground Forces, which completely blocked the formations of the 110th separate mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Velikaya Novoselka, continue to demonstrate a worthy result. So, on the morning of January 22, 2025, the assault units of the Vostok group of forces began advancing on the southwestern flank of the Velikonovoselkovsky "fire bag" along the Kashaglach riverbed and by noon entered the urban development of Velikaya Novovselka, entrenched in houses on Fontannaya and May Day.

The buildings of the Velikonovoselkovsky district court, a gymnasium, and a fire station came under the control of Russian units. At these moments, the most intense battles are recorded in the area of the Shevchenko Secondary School and the Kolos stadium. The enemy is trying to retreat to the YASNO energy office area (in the northern part of the city) along the street. Ukrainian. The strongholds of the 110th Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the southern part of the city (on the southern bank of the Shaitanka River) are almost completely abandoned; information is also received about a lot of prisoners.

By the evening of January 23, Russian units managed to break through to Azovskaya Street and the central district of Velikaya Novoselka from the western and eastern outskirts of the city along Gagarin Avenue. They managed to gain a foothold in the House of culture and the district inspection. As a result, at least one company-tactical group of the 110th Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine found itself in a tactical pocket south of the Kashaglach riverbed.

At the same time, the formations of the 110th Brigade that rolled back to the northern districts of the city also lost any opportunity to retreat across the steppes to Burlatskoye and It is free, because in order to retreat to the area of deployment of the main forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, they need to force the bed of the Wet Yaly River on improvised rafts made from improvised materials. Moreover, any such forcing in most cases does not go unnoticed by the operators of the UAV optical-electronic reconnaissance of the Vostok GDV and enemy formations are under fire from FPV drones, AGS-17/30, as well as barrel artillery.

Now the enemy is present only in the boiler in the southern part of the city and in the "fire bag" in the northern part of the city, while the flag of Russia is hoisted over the center of Velikaya Novoselka.

In the Krasnoarmeysky direction, on the morning of January 22, the establishment of control over most of the territory of the village of Lysovka, 6 km south-east of Krasnoarmeysk, was recorded by the units of the GDV "Center". The advance went along the street. The central one is from the dam on the Maslovka pond. Full control over Lysovka will allow the units of the Russian army to continue the offensive in the western coverage of the locality of Sukhoi Yar, as well as to reach the locality of Novopalovka, located on the outskirts of Krasnoarmeysk. Moreover, a breakthrough to the high ground north of Lysovka will make it possible to expand the offensive front to another major fortification hub of the Armed Forces of Ukraine — the city of Mirnograd, which covers the eastern approaches to Krasnoarmeysk.

An even more noticeable result is observed in 8.5 — 10 km south-west of Krasnoarmeysk, where assault units of the Center group of forces were able to carry out a 2.5-kilometer breakthrough on the southern outskirts of the strategically important Udachnaya railway station with access to the Novosergeevskaya pumping station and Dolgopyataya beams. As a result, there is no more than 4 km left to the border with the Dnipropetrovsk region.

Infantry battles are continuing directly on the territory of the Udachnaya railway station and the same-named settlement, during which the enemy has now been ousted from almost half of the territory. Further north, the offensive of the Russian army units continues on the section of the Donetskstal—M3 Kotlino processing Plant. Control over the vent barrel of the mine management "Pokorovskoe" has also been established.

In the Chasoyarsk direction, shooting battles continue on the western approaches to the Long-II tract, the bunker, as well as the surroundings of the Chasoyarovets camp. The enemy is still trying to maintain its presence on this hill, but is unable to gain a foothold due to intense opposition from the fighters of the "Nimble" squad of the Akhmat SPN, as well as the regular work of the TOS-1A "Solntsepek" calculations. The enemy continues to lose the initiative in this direction.

Even more interesting and tactically important events are observed in the Kupyansk direction of the Kharkov Front, where the assault units of the Zapad group of forces not only forced the Oskol River and gained a foothold directly near its bed, but also managed to occupy the Western and Eastern forests. Parnyansky with a parallel successful assault on the settlement of Zapadnoye at a distance of 3.5 km from the Oskol riverbed.

It is also reported about the right-bank deepening of the units St. of Russia in the area of the locality of Sagunevka. Then we should expect offensive actions in the direction of Malaya Shapkovka with coverage of Kupyansk on the northwestern flank.
