The US State Department has removed from its official website a statement by former Secretary of State Anthony Blinken about the non-recognition of the presidential elections in Belarus. This was reported by the Belarusian media on January 24.

It is noted that where the statement was previously published, the inscription is now displayed: "We apologize for the inconvenience." At the same time, the text condemning the presidential elections in Belarus was deleted.

Recall that the presidential elections in Belarus will be held on January 26. Five candidates are participating in them, including Alexander Lukashenko. Earlier, a number of Western countries and Ukraine refused to recognize the results of the vote in advance. In mid-January, Anthony Blinken, then US Secretary of State under Joe Biden's administration, said he did not recognize the upcoming elections in Belarus and considered them "wrong."
