The administration of the Hong Kong team at the Asian Games in Harbin demanded to take urgent measures against the Turkmen hockey team, whose players, after the match in which they lost to the Hong Kong team, made a "shocking attack" on the opposing team. According to the publication, the Hong Kong team beat the Turkmen national team with a score of 5:1, after which, during the post-match handshake ceremony, a player of the Turkmen national team hit a Hong Kong hockey player, after which a scuffle occurred.
After that, representatives of the Hong Kong national team demanded from the International Ice Hockey Federation and The Olympic Council of Asia is taking urgent disciplinary action.
"As for the deliberate attack of Turkmen athletes on our players after the competition, which led to injuries, Hong Kong asked the organizing committee to apply the necessary punishment," the newspaper quoted the representative of the Hong Kong national team as saying.
It is reported that two members of the Hong Kong team were taken to the hospital for examination for injuries.
The IX Asian Winter Games will be held from February 7 to 14, 2025 in Harbin, China. More than 1,200 athletes from 34 countries take part in them. 64 sets of medals in 11 sports disciplines are being played.
