The United States stops funding war crimes investigations on Ukraine. This was reported by Reuters, citing sources and an internal Ukrainian document.
The measures relate to six projects with a total budget of $ 89 million, including the so-called Advisory Group on the Investigation of Especially Serious Crimes on Ukraine (ACA). At the moment, funding for at least five of them has been frozen. Two programs were supported by the US Agency for International Development (USAID), three by the Bureau for Combating International Drug Trafficking and Law Enforcement, and one directly by the State Department. In addition, dozens of employees who worked on these projects have been reduced.
It is noted that the reduction in funding is due to the order of the Donald Trump administration to suspend all foreign aid for 90 days to review programs. The decision on their future fate will be made based on the results of an audit overseen by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the Strana newspaper writes.
As reported by EADaily, the US Agency for International Development (USAID), closed by the new American administration, spent on Ukraine spent 10% of its budget — $ 4 billion - on the maintenance of 11 thousand employees of NGOs working within the framework of 115 programs of this organization.
