A good sign: Russia has released ex-employee of the US Embassy Vogel

As part of the exchange, Russia released American citizen Mark Vogel, sentenced to 14 years, which indicates progress in resolving the Ukrainian crisis. This was announced by US National Security Adviser Mike Waltz.

"... special envoy (Donald) Trump's Steve Witkoff leaves Russian airspace with Mark Vogel, an American who was detained in Russia. President Trump, Steve Witkoff and the president's advisers agreed on a deal. This demonstrates good faith on the part of the Russians and testifies that we are moving in the right direction to put an end to the terrible war on Ukraine," reads a statement published on the White House website.

Recall that in December, the Supreme Court of Russia refused to consider the complaint of the ex-employee of the US Embassy, Mark Vogel, sentenced to 14 years in the case of drug smuggling.

Who was released by the United States as part of the exchange is not reported.
